Westcoast was the only IT distributor to make it in to this year’s league table.
The Sunday Times Top Track 100 is an annual league table which ranks Britain’s biggest private companies by latest sales.
Westcoast ranked 52, up two places on last year with sales of £1,041m.
Westcoast’s entry reads:
Established in 1984, Westcoast distributes IT products and services to more than 8,000 customers. Its range includes servers, storage devices, printers and audio-visual equipment from companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Samsung, Hewlett-Packard and Toshiba. Headquartered in Reading, Westcoast is still owned and run by founder Joe Hemani, 66, and employs 800 staff. Last year it reached sales of more than £1bn for the first time.

Being a privately owned business allows us to be nimble and support our vendors and customers in ways that not all distributors can. We now have over 800 staff and it is the passion of these individuals along with the support from our vendors and customers that has accelerated our growth," said Duncan Forsyth, managing director of Westcoast.
At the No.1 spot of this year’s Top Track 100 was retailer and pharmaceutical wholesaler Alliance Boots. John Lewis Partnership managed to rank 4th on the list with sales of £8,466m, the same position that it held last year.
