TP-Link has unveiled the Deco M9 Plus, which it says is the world’s first Mesh-IoT hybrid router.

The Smart Home Mesh System connects 100+ devices simultaneously, including Wi-Fi, ZigBee and Bluetooth enabled smart home devices, providing “fast, secure, whole home Wi-Fi with seamless roaming”.

Unlike other Wi-Fi routers, Deco M9 Plus has a built-in IoT hub to curate all smart devices - from lightbulbs to locks, sensors to CCTV cameras and more - on one platform, including non TP-Link brands.

There’s also a Deco app, so users can create and customise shortcuts incorporating all the their connected devices to be controlled via a single app.

Deco also works with IFTTT, so that users can set up notifications depending on what’s most useful to them. For example, get an alert when a new device connects to their TP-Link network.

Specs include a powerful Qualcomm Quad-core CPU, which gives Deco M9 Plus the processing power to connect over 100 devices, with speeds twice as fast as TP-Link’s Deco M5 Mesh router.

Users can also get two Deco units in separate rooms and have them work together to eliminate weak signal areas and guarantee strong Wi-Fi up to 4,500 feet - that’s enough for every corner of the average home and garden.

Three separate Wi-Fi bands deliver super-fast, stable connections to devices, with one 5Ghz band dedicated to backhaul, so bandwidth is freed up for lag-free 4K streaming. To further optimise performance, Smart Connect technology automatically assigns each device to the optimum band to balance traffic and maintain fast connections.

TP-Link promises easy setup and management. All users have to do is connect a smartphone to the Deco M9 Plus via Bluetooth and follow the app’s step-by-step instructions.

“This router combines essential high speed, secure and flexible wireless connectivity with the convenience of smart home control in a single device,” said TP-Link’s UK country manager Will Liu.

“Integration with smart speakers is enriching the smart home experience and consolidating the management of many different smart devices into a single Deco app via the IoT hub functionality. This means that smart home controls become even easier and customisable."

The Deco M9 Plus has an RRP of £349.99 and will be available to purchase from all major e-commerce sites.
