Gamers can test out HTC Vive a month before it ships to UK at PC Gamer Weekender

The PC Gamer Weekender show takes place in London on March 5th, and will be one of the first opportunities for UK consumers to try out the HTC Vive.

Nvidia will be showcasing the Vive headset at its demo booth throughout the two days of the PC Gamer Weekender.

All attendees will be able to get hands-on with the device that goes on sale in April.

Nvidia has also confirmed that it will present at The 4K Stage. Curated in conjunction with show producers, the stage will host developer interviews, gameplay, walkthroughs and more, demonstrating the latest and most cutting edge in 4K gaming technology.

“Virtual reality is an incredible advance for gamers, providing full immersion in whole new worlds. The best VR experience demands enormous computing power – and the best way to get that is with Nvidia’s GeForce GTX GPUs. We’re thrilled to be working with game developers and VR headset companies like HTC to bring spectacular new experiences to the market,” said Jaap Zuiderveld, VP EMEAI, Nvidia.

Samuel Roberts, Editor of PC Gamer, added: “Vive has captured the industry’s attention as we enter the era of VR. We are delighted that the Weekender attendees will be among the first to try out its new content on GeForce GTX-powered PCs.”

HTC opened up the pre-orders for its SteamVR Vive headset at the beginning of the week, revealing that UK shipping will start in April.

Gamers who pre-order the Vive, will get the headset, two wireless controllers, and two base stations enabling 360-degree room-scale motion-tracking, plus, the games Tilt Brush, Fantastic Contraption and Job Simulator.

The UK price for the Vive is £689 – £190 more than the Oculus Rift – but that price point will be bumped up even further by the UK shipping, which adds on an estimated £57.60. This means it could cost you £746.60 in total to get the headset in your home.

The PC Gamer Weekender takes place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th March at the Old Truman Brewery, London. For more info, visit weekender.pcgamer.com.
