Exertis: Rugged and Workstation are key growth opportunities

Exertis has today announced dates and speakers for its first ever specialised computing showcase featuring rugged and workstation opportunities from Dell EMC. With keynotes from experts in survival and computing together with a hands-on opportunity on the products, the events will be held across the UK during September.

Simon Barnard, Exertis general manager of computing, said: “Technology isn’t confined to the office or home. In many scenarios, users expect to be able to use a mobile device outdoors, sometimes in extreme conditions. A rugged device is especially important where organisations cannot afford to compromise on productivity and reliability. Equally, a workstation is key for users with specialist and often critical requirements that demand more power and consistent reliability. These events will enable our resellers to find out more about how they can take advantage of both market opportunities with great propositions from Dell EMC.”

At the events, Survival expert Steve Heaword and product experts David Poulin and John Burton will give keynote speeches.

Steve Heaword a former serviceman and founder of Crib Gogh (named after the Crib Goch ridge in Snowdonia) has been developing and testing products in extreme environments as far away as the jungles of Malaysia. He has conducted extensive tests on the Dell rugged range.

David Poulin is a senior executive from Dell in the US and is an expert on the rugged computing market. He has been involved in product development, management and roll-outs of ruggedised devices.

John Burton is Dell’s national workstation technologist and will provide an insight into the future of workstation and the opportunities in a variety of vertical markets.

While the PC market overall has been declining, the workstation category has been less affected than others. This is evidenced by reports from a number of analysts, most notably John Pedder Research which reported a double digit year-on-year growth in Q1 2017. Ruggedised PCs through distribution have been steady across top five countries in Europe with 8,600 sold in 2016, according to Context.

The specialised computing showcases will be held from 10.30 to 15.30 at the following locations:

Ricoh Arena, Coventry – Tuesday 19th September

Madejski Stadium, Reading – Tuesday 26th September

Macron Stadium, Bolton – Thursday 28th September
