Digital Secretary opens London Office for Rapid Cybersecurity Advancement

Digital secretary Matt Hancock has opened a government-funded cyber innovation centre in London.

The £13.5m London Office for Rapid Cybersecurity Advancement (LORCA), is based at the East London Innovation Centre located at the Here East digital creative campus.

Deloitte’s cyber team, along with the Centre for Secure Information technologies at Queen’s University Belfast, are collaborators of the new centre.

“We are investing £1.9 billion to protect the nation from cyber threats, have introduced new laws to strengthen our defences, and developed a wealth of free help and guidance for businesses available through our National Cyber Security Centre,” said Matt Hancock in a statement.

“It’s fantastic to open this new centre where some of our most talented entrepreneurs and innovative companies will develop the cyber security technology of tomorrow. This will boost London’s booming tech sector and benefit businesses across the country.”

The centre will bring together different elements of the UK’s leading cyber security companies. Ten organisations have been announced as the centre’s first working groups. These include, B-Secur, Loetec, Think Cyber Security, Trust Elevate, Aves Netsec, Cybershield, Cyberlytic, CyberOwl, Surevine and Zone Fox.
