A router that only allows kids to access the internet after they’ve ‘earned’ it is seeking investment.
The Kudoso router lets parents manage their children’s time online by encouraging them to complete household chores or do exercise first before being allowed online.
Kids can earnt points as they complete certain tasks, which can be spent on accessing websites for a certain amount of time. They can also earn points by watching educational videos and lessons available from Khan Academy – a not-for-profit educational organisation.
Parents can manage the Kudoso cloud-based system on a computer, smartphone or tablet.
The team behind the router is seeking $50,000 investment on Kickstarter to fund it. So far it has generated $12,000 with three weeks to go.
"Let’s face it – the internet is full of sites you don’t want your kids visiting," said Kudoso in a statement.
"Everything revolves around the internet these days, so we can’t prevent them from using it, but we can help control the sites and applications your kids can visit. Whether your kids are seeking out these sites or not, they still may come across unwanted sites, but not with Kudoso."
