Tech Data strengthens gaming proposition with new hire

Gaming is one of the fastest growing sectors in the market, and now Tech Data has stepped up its efforts to support customers by appointing Christian Cox as its new dedicated business development manager (BDM) for Gaming within the Consumer Technology Group (CTG).

Cox moves from his previous role as business development executive within the HP Systems team, a position he’d occupied for almost two-and-a-half years.

Commenting on his new post, Cox stated: “This is a really exciting time to be joining the team and taking on this new role in the dynamic and fast-moving gaming sector. I am really looking forward to getting stuck in and working with our supplier partners, expanding our portfolio and developing new services and ways to add value and support our and retail and webstore customers.”

Cox joins a growing and very CTG experienced team who are supporting resellers, retailers and webstores in key areas of growth potential. In addition to PC gaming, they provide focus on consumer PCs and components, home networking and smart home products, and VR and wearable devices.

Mark Glasspool, director of Tech Data’s Consumer Technology Group, said: “PC gaming is a massive area of growth potential and we’re seeing a rapid acceleration in this area of our business. Christian’s appointment underlines our commitment to supporting partners and customers in driving growth. He brings a great deal of experience and enthusiasm to this important new role and strengthens our team considerably.”

Tech Data is already a leading provider of gaming titles (which are available for instant download and activation via TD Activate-here) and of gaming PCs and accessories. It is planning to expand its range significantly over the next few months.
