The South Korean firm has added Apple’s latest smartphone to its US patent lawsuit, stating the device infringes on eight of its protected technologies.
Innovations disputed by Samsung include photo, music and video file synchronisation and the methods used to capture and share video via the web.
These recent claims are just the latest in a series of disputes filed by Samsung over Apple’s technologies and previous genertion iPhone and iPad devices.
Apple continues to claim that Samsung copied the look and iOS system for its devices from those found on the US firms tablets and smartphones.
Whilst the firm has had a number of its lawsuits dismissed, it achieved a major victory over its rival back in August when a jury ruled Samsung to have violated a number of Apple’s patents and was forced to pay out over $1bn in damages.
Outside of the US, Samsung has achieved limited success of its own as a court case in South Korea found that Apple had infringed a number of its wireless communication patents, which resulted in a $35,000 payout for the Samsung.
Apple will no doubt be disappointed with today’s ruling that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 device will go back on sale, after it’s sales were prohibited in conjunction with the ongoing legal battle between the two firms.
