Canalys' president and CEO, Steve Brazier, has said changing working habits are likely to be a key driver in continuing sales of PCs as people increasingly have one for work and another for leisure.

Speaking at Acer's Global Press Conference, he said that Canalys' research revealed that 20 per cent of respondants intended to purchase a new laptop within the next 12 months.

He also said that a lot of demand is due to the "blurring of the life/work balance," with people increasingly doing work or work related tasks such as checking their work email and even answering them in some cases at home.

He said that its research suggested that a large amount of demand for new hardware in thanks in large part to increases in flexible work.
