Jason Holtman, Microsoft’s general manager for Windows Gaming, has left the firm.

The news emerged after Neowin spotted a change of Holtman’s LinkedIn profile to state that he had departed from Microsoft in January.

Holtman, formerly director of business development at Valve, where he worked for nearly eight years, joined Microsoft last August, and was praised for his statements saying that Microsoft was to focus more closely on PC gaming.

A Microsoft statement confirmed Holtman’s departure, saying: "We can confirm that Jason has left Microsoft and we’re grateful for his time at the company.”

“We wish him the best in his future endeavours."
