Windows 7 Service Pack 1 hits RTM

Microsoft announced the ‘Release to Manufacturing’ (RTM) of Windows 7 service pack 1 or SP1.

"Today, on behalf of the team, I’m pleased to announce the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) of Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1), along with Windows 7 SP1," said Microsoft technical product manager in a post on the Windows Server blog.

The company announced that SP1 will be made available for public download on he 22nd of this month.

Service Pack 1 does not contain much in the way of new features that end-users might care about but Windows Server 2008 gains RemoteFX, allowing video and 3D via remote desktop sessions and a dynamic memory feature which is set to improve resource usage.

As with previous service packs, the update will essentially roll up all of the software updates into one, making the process of updating a fresh operating system installation a little more straight forward.
