This year’s PCR Boot Camp kicked off with a welcome speech from Microsoft’s OEM channel sales lead Nicola Young, who revealed that Windows 10 is on show during today's expo.

Taking place in a brand new venue for Boot Camp, Whittlebury Hall, the conference section of the day started with Young presenting to retailers, resellers and system builders, where she discussed some of the pressing issues in the UK channel.

"We’re in a mobile first, cloud first world. There will shortly be three billion devices connected to the internet. For Microsoft, we look at ourselves as being the productivity and platform company," said Young.

"Giving people the choice in the cloud is important to us. We’re really about creating the right technologies to help our customers do this," she added.

Young also spoke about Microsoft's new operating system, Windows 10: "As we move into the summer, where we’ll be launching Windows 10, you’ll see us embracing cross-platform solutions."

Microsoft will also be exhibiting throughout the day, and thanks to the new venue, the firm will have its own separate room where delegates will be able to stop by and have a look at what Microsoft has on offer.

It’s been a busy year for the tech giant, with the addition of new products such as the Surface 3, and the end of support for Windows Server 2003. In fact, Microsoft is urging customers to begin migration from Windows Server 2003 and upgrade to Windows Server 2012 R2 and Microsoft Azure, so a visit to Microsoft’s room is vital for any delegates who may be affected.

PCR hosted a webinar on Windows Server 2003 end of support recently, which you can watch in full here.

Back to today’s Boot Camp 2015 schedule, Nicola Young’s welcome speech will be followed by a talk on the future of computing by Intel’s Matthew Birch, a discussion about wearables and IoT from GfK, a panel session on selling tablets, Ricoh’s Steven Hastings on the 21st century workplace, another panel session entitled ‘forget everything you thought you knew about being a PC dealer, plus a presentation from Cloud Telephones’ William Linard on cloud calling.
