Apple says the device now won't be available until next year

White iPhone 4 delayed again

Apple has delayed the launch of the long awaited white iPhone 4 for a third time, and the device will now be available from next spring.

The iPhone 4 was launched globally in June, but the white version was postponed to July, then to “later this year”, before the latest delay.

"We’re sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone again," Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller told Reuters.

It has never been entirely clear why the device has suffered so many delays, beyond Apple’s statement that they are “more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected”.

Actor Stephen Fry showed off a white iPhone 4 at an awards ceremony earlier this month, telling the audience that his was the only one in Europe.
