Server sales were down across Western Europe during the third quarter, with the UK being hit worst as IT spending was frozen by key customers such as financial institutions.
According to IDC, server revenues for the UK fell by 10.7 per cent during the quarter, to $614m (£393m). That was more than twice the average decline for the rest of Europe.
Commenting on the decline, programme director for European Systems Research at IDC, Nathaniel Martinez said, "Only projects that yielded a high return on investment for organisations were given the green light, all others were halted."
