Valve engineer confirms Steam Box is on the way

Steam Box ‘confirmed’ by Valve

After many rumours about a Linux-based mini PC coming from Valve, engineer Ben Kransnow has revealed that the ‘Steam Box’ will be unveiled at one of this year’s gaming expos.

According to Golem.de, Valve will most likely announce controllers and a virtual reality kit along with the Steam Box sometime this year. It is possible the device will be unveiled at either the Game Developers Conference in March or E3 in June.

Lenovo to split business in two

CEO Yang Yuanqing has revealed in an internal email that Lenovo will split into Lenovo Business Group (LBG) and Think Business Group (TBG), effective from April 1st.

LBG will focus on mainstream consumer and business desktops, laptops and tablets, as well as smartphones and smart TVs. TBG will focus on better establishing the ‘business-friendly’ Think brand in the consumer market.

Samsung unveils ‘world’s first’ vacuum tube sound bar

Samsung has announced details of its new audio hardware range, which includes the world’s first sound bar with built-in vacuum tube.

The Vacuum Tube Soundbar is the world’s first soundbar that can wirelessly connect with a TV via Bluetooth.

‘Hashtag’ decaled 2012’s word of the year

The American Dialect Society has named ‘hashtag’ as the word of the year.

"This was the year when the hashtag became a ubiquitous phenomenon in online talk,” said Ben Zimmer, chair of the ADS’ New Words Committee, in a statement.

‘Hashtag’ beat ‘Gangnam Style’, ‘YOLO’, and ‘fiscal cliff’ to the top stop.
