My Book Studio Edition II armed with 3TB drives

WD introduces 6TB external drive

Storage giant Western Digital unveiled a new addition to the firm’s range of My Book external hard drives fitted with two 3TB drives.

The Western Digital My Book Studio Edition II boasts six terabytes of storage which, the firm said, could meet the capacity needs of today’s creative professionals who create, store, edit and archive large HD video and photo files.

Offering four interfaces, FireWire 800/400, eSATA and USB 2.0, Western Digital also claimed that the drive consumed a third less power than standard dual-drive external storage systems.

The My Book Studio Edition II also comes with backup software and user serviceability, enabling the user to open the enclosure to access the drives inside.

The My Book Studio Edition II is now available from WD’s online store with the 6TB version priced at US$549.99. The company hasn’t yet announced European availability and pricing.
