York-based distributor takes on new rugged PDAs

Varlink snaps up Getac

Varlink has inked a deal to become a UK distributor of rugged computing specialist Getac’s PS236 and PS535F Windows Mobile PDAs.

The vendor’s mobile devices are designed for use in industrial and field environments, and can therefore withstand extreme temperatures, along with wet and dirty conditions. In addition, the PS535F is ATEX certified and reaches the US Military’s MIL-STD 810G standard.

“We are extremely excited about this latest vendor addition to our portfolio. An increasing number of VARs and system integrators that we have been working with this year require the intrinsically safe ATEX and MIL-STD 810G standards and wireless networking facilities. We have also come across a number of opportunities lately where field workers require handheld devices with a camera able to read barcodes, which the Getac products offer. We therefore see Getac as a perfect fit,” said Sabine Kelly, Varlink’s marketing manager.

“Varlink has grown to become a very influential mobile computing distributor in the UK and they have a solid track record of sales, marketing and support programs specifically geared for their vendors,” added Peter Molyneux, business development director for Getac in the UK. “We are delighted to welcome Varlink as our new UK distribution partner and are confident that they will provide the skills and support necessary grow our businesses together.”
