Valve has finally revealed the Steam Box, although the three different devices are actually called Steam Machines.

Although details were pretty vague, Valve did reveal that the devices will be available ‘beginning in 2014’ and will be made by different manufacturers.

Valve also announced that it needs help beta testing the prototype. It will be shipping 300 Steam Machines to Steam users, free of charge, for testing.

Steam users have until October 25th to put their name down to be entered into a prize draw to get one. More details at store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamMachines/

On Monday, Valve unveiled SteamOS, its own Linux-based operating system.

The OS will enable gamers to stream titles from Windows or Mac straight to a TV.

The third and final Valve announcement is due to take place on Friday at 6pm. It is expected that a bespoke controller will be unveiled.
