UK sees increase in demand for IT staff throughout January 2014

Recruitment consultants across the UK have signalled an increase in demand for both permanent and temporary IT staff in January.

According to a new report from KPMG and the REC, IT and Computing ranked fourth in the nine-category league table for permanent staff demand.

Temp IT staff demand growth also remained strong despite easing slightly from that recorded one moth previously.

“Employer confidence continues to grow, with the thirst for new staff hitting a fifteen-and-a-half year high in January,” commented Bernard Brown, Partner and Head of Business Services at KPMG.

Marked increases in permanent placements were signalled in all four monitored English regions, with the South posting the steepest rise.
