Toshiba announced a refresh of the firm’s Qosmio and Satellite notebook ranges with the incorporation of Intel Sandy Bridge technology.
The Qosmio X505 high-end desktop replacement laptop will be the first be upgraded with the 2nd generation of quad core Intel Core i7 and dual core Core i5 processors, adding to the beefy GeForce GFX 460M equipped 18.4-inch laptop. The entry level Qosmio is priced at $1,300.
The Satellite A660 and M640 15.6 and 14-inch notebooks will also be upgraded with new Core i3 and Core i5 dual-core processors and Nvidia Geforce GT 500 graphics as well as USB 3.0 and Blu-ray. The A660 starts at $685 while the cheapest M640 will go for around $750.
“Incorporating these new processors into our line will provide our customers with a more responsive PC experience and better battery life ratings – two important improvements they’ve been asking for,” said Toshiba digital products boss Ron Smith.
Toshiba also announced new 10-inch netbooks including the Toshiba NB305 with a dual-core Atom N550 processor and the budget Mini NB305 set to be priced at less than $300. The NB505 will be available in a range of colours and Toshiba’s ‘Easy Grip’ textured finish.
No major vendor’s CES 2011 announcement would be complete without the obligatory tablet device and Toshiba is no exception. The Nvidia Tegra 2-powered 10.1-inch device appears to haver much the same specifications, form factor and 1280×800 resolutions as other Honeycomb tablets
The as yet unnamed Toshiba tablet will reportedly boast a changeable rear panel which will also allow the battery to be changed.
