Sony-manufactured batteries once again at the center of safety concerns

Toshiba issues further battery recall

Toshiba has again issued a recall of Sony made batteries after it emerged that there were safety issues present with the offending power packs.

The move comes after a similar announcement late last year when it emerged that a laptop had burst into flames due to a defect in the Sony made battery.

The affected laptops are the Dynabook AX/720LLT, AX/720LST, AX/730LS, AX/740LS, AX/740LSB and AX/740LSK. Toshiba has said that owners should remove the batteries immediately and run the laptops on mains power only.

As of yet, the recall only effects Japan but further announcements are expected from Toshiba to clear up worries of consumers in other territories.
