Firm announces new RackStation and DiskStation products

Three new Synology NAS models released

Synology has announced three new models in its NAS range, including two brand new concepts.

The new devices are: RackStation RC18015xs+, DiskStation DS215+ and DS715.

The RC18015xs+ features high-availability design, next-generation snapshot technology and massive scalability up to 180 drives. The shared storage architecture eliminates the need for data replication over the network, in addition to drastically reducing deployment costs.

RC18015xs+ delivers a secure and reliable storage solution for enterprises seeking business continuity and point-in-time data recovery. It has an RRP of £2,802 and an RXD1215sas version is also available for £2,400.

As the successor of the DS214+, the DS215+ comes with a brand new dual core processor with a hardware encryption engine, 2 Gigabit LAN ports and 1GB RAM. The upgraded processor provides 80 per cent faster reading and 50 per cent faster writing encrypted data. The DS215+ has an RRP of £252.

Lastly, the DS715 is equipped with a quad core CPU, hardware encryption engine, 2 Gigabit LAN ports and 2GB RAM. The DS715 can scale up to seven drives with Synology DX513, providing up to 56TB of raw capacity. The DS715 also supports Synology High Availability (SHA), which further ensures seamless transition between clustered servers in the event of server failure. The DS715 has an RRP of £306.

As well as attached storage, Synology also manufactures surveillance cameras and software. In fact, at this year’s Computex, the firm’s Surveillance Station recorded an attendee stealing one of Synology’s notebooks from its booth. Check out the video here.
