UK travel firm Thomson has partnered with children's media company Whipper Snapper to create entertainment pods featuring Kurio Android tablets in its High Street superstores.

Thomson has introduced dedicated kids club areas in its stores to keep children entertained while parents book holidays. These are traditionally furnished with TV screens, toys and activity sheets, and now feature the new entertainment pods.

KD UK - makers of the Kurio kids' tablets - has supplied its devices to feature on the pods, allowing children to play games including the new Thomson Kids Club App, as well as Angry Birds and Talking Ginger.

Doug Glenwright, General Manager of Retail Transformation at Thomson owner Tui, said: "The Kurio tablets have been incredibly popular in our stores they really help mum and dad to focus on booking their perfect holiday. Combined with Whipper Snapper TV and activity sheets we now have a choice of entertainment for kids – and they can even download our Thomson Kids Club App which is fun and educational.

"We are looking at rolling out the entertainment pods and Kurio tablets to more shops moving forwards.”

Tracey Devine, Marketing and Licensing Director of KD UK, added: “Kurio is designed with families in mind and the new pods in Thomson stores will ensure that the children are kept busy, while mum and dad make their bookings. Meanwhile, the parents can rest assured that their child is safe and will only be able to access age-relevant material."
