A look at the rumours surrounding Apple’s March 7th announcement

The Apple iPad 3 rumour mill

Everyone is eagerly waiting to see what Apple unveils at its launch event this evening (6pm UK time), PCR takes a look at some of the rumours surrounding the event.

The invite to the launch event states ‘We have something you really have to see. And touch,’ which has sparked rumours that Apple’s latest iPad will feature technology that generates a tiny electrical field on the screen, allowing the touchscreen to simulate texture.

Others are saying that the invite is clearly a nod towards a much improved camera as well as retina display, allowing the screen to show full 1080p HD. This would be a significant upgrade from the current iPad’s 720 HD.

Not all the buzz is about iPad 3/HD, after all, no one really knows what the company will be revealing. With the appearance of the ‘Catalogues’ category on the App Store, there is speculation that Apple is planning some kind of online retail service. The rumour is that Apple will allow in-app purchases of physical goods using an iTunes account.

Whatever ends up happening at the launch, PCR will be reporting on all the exciting news.
