Distributor transitioning to Microsoft’s cloud service across Europe

Tech Data Europe adopts Office 365 internally

Distributor Tech Data has completed the implementation of Office 365 across its entire European operation.

The company says this rollout enables it to ‘leverage all of the advantages of Microsoft’s cloud-based services’ as promoted and sold to resellers by Tech Data’s own Cloud Services division.

This project, led by the company’s internal IT Solutions team, involved transferring more than 9,000 individual and shared mailboxes to Microsoft’s cloud service from the company’s former on-premises, server-based infrastructure.

Philippe Bosquier, senior VP for IT at Tech Data Europe, said: “Our move to Office 365 makes so much sense from an operational point of view. We have obtained all the benefits associated with cloud computing: accessibility, storage volumes, availability, updates, and maintenance; all this with a reduced total cost of ownership.

"Our teams have done a great job in collaboration with their Microsoft counterparts to deliver this project and we really look forward to leveraging further advantages of the cloud moving forward."

Reza Honarmand, VP of Software & Cloud at Tech Data Europe, added: “We are delighted with this experience and we are convinced that this is the optimal solution on the market, giving end-customers quality and value for money. This implementation makes it much easier for us to demonstrate to our customers that Office 365 is the best solution out there.”
