Synology Surveillance Station catches notebook thief at Computex – watch video

Synology had a tricky time at Computex 2015 this year, after an attendee tried to swipe one of the company’s notebooks.

Luckily the Surveillance Station in Synology’s booth recorded the entire scene, and caught the thief in the act.

The video depicts the attendee covering the notebook with a booklet, whilst fiddling with a few other pieces of paper. He then quickly pinches the notebook and places it under his arm, before taking off with the device.

Yi-Lin Huang, MD of Synology UK, Ireland and Nordics, told PCR: “A thief tried to steal our notebook from our booth, and was caught because our surveillance videoed him when he tried to steal our notebook.

“So finally he was caught by the police. And I think it’s a very interesting case because our surveillance station helped catch him.“

Synology told PCR that the company’s previous MD Mike Chen (who now works at Synology’s Taiwan head office) found the footage and reported the news to the police, which later led to the thief’s arrest.

The company also scooped one of the Computex Golden Best Choice Awards, for its new RT1900ac router.

This news comes after Synology announced the promotion of Billy Knowles to sales manager for the UK and Ireland.
