Music streaming service Spotify announced a collaboration with music recognition application Shazam.
Shazam's premium applications on the iPhone and Android now not only have the ability to recognise a song based on a short recording but not will be able to play the full track via the Spotify Mobile application.
"Now if you hear a great new track you can identify it, listen to it instantly in its entirety and easily add it to your music collection. That's pretty powerful stuff," said Spotify boss Daniel Ek.
The free version of Shazam will recognise five tracks a month and Spotify support will appear in the free version in the near future.
Shazam has more information on how to obtain the application for a variety of smartphones at this page.
