Sonic Solutions has filed a patent infringement complaint against German software manufacturer Nero AG and its US affiliate for infringement of one of its video editing patents.

Sonic Solutions sues Nero AG

The lawsuit was filed in the US district court in Marshall, Texas, and alleges that Nero’s video editing software infringes Sonic’s US Patent number 6,204,840 – which relates to ‘digital multimedia composition techniques’. Among other things, the 1998 filed patent covers ways to create digital videos by using a graphical storylines to compose individual segments.

Shares of Sonic Solutions were down 22 cents at $14.85 yesterday afternoon.
