Research conducted by Sky Broadband has revealed that public WiFi usage in Leeds is twice the national average.
Released to mark the launch of Sky Broadband’s free and unlimited WiFi service ‘WiFi Hotspots From The Cloud’, the study revealed that more than one in five people in Leeds have used public WiFi in the last day.
Sky’s research also revealed that checking emails is the most common reason for using WiFi, with 54 per cent doing so. Also, the most popular locations for using public WiFi are cafes, restaurants and then pubs and bars.
The launch of WiFi Hotspots from The Cloud to Sky Broadband Unlimited customers will include a free ‘Sky Cloud WiFi’ app available for iOS and selected Android devices. Once downloaded and registered, the app will allow users to connect their smartphone or iPad to the internet automatically without having to re-enter their log-in details.
