Specialist memory distributor Simms International has been presented with the Investors in People Gold award.

The Kent-based firm says the award reflects its long-standing commitment to staff development and training - the Gold is given to just 3.2 per cent of organisations in the UK.

“We are extremely proud to have been awarded IIP Gold,” said Andrew Henderson, managing director of Simms International.

“Since we founded the business in 1990, our people and corporate values have always been at the heart of our business. We are very humbled by this award and understand that without our people we couldn’t have achieved such a prestigious accreditation. The gold status reflects our company’s heritage and how we have always operated with clear goals, forward planning and encouraged a culture where staff learning, development and engagement are fundamental. Great people help build strong longstanding relationships so that we may offer customers and vendors a great experience.”

To achieve Gold, Simms needed to meet a total of 165 or more different standards, including 39 core accreditation standards. This award celebrates those that perform beyond the core Investors in People Standard. The Standard provides a solid foundation for further growth and development and is awarded to well-run organisations which meet set criteria, including learning and development, leadership skills and recognition and reward of staff amongst others.

“Being recognised as an Investor in People is becoming increasingly more important,” commented John Telfer, Managing Director of Inspiring Business Performance Ltd (IBP), the organisation that delivers Investor in People (IIP) for London and the South. “The higher the level of accreditation, the better it reflects on your organisation to potential employees, investors and customers. Simms International should be extremely proud of their achievement.”
