780 Seagate employees working in the Limavady factory in County Londonderry will be made redundant this week following the closure of Seagates Irish base. The closure will also affect 160 temporary workers.

The manufacturing base has been running for over 10 years and produces substrate material components for use in hard drive disks. Tech site, The Inquirer, reports that the company's larger plant in Derry will not be affected by the closure.

Seagate produce will now be primarily manufactured in Singapore and Malaysia following external suppliers lowering costs.
