Samsung has revealed its profits have fallen by eight per cent during its second quarter of 2015.

Profit during the quarter from April to June fell to 5.75 trillion won (£3.2 billion), down from 6.3 trillion won a year earlier.

The launch of the company’s new flagship Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones did not prevent its decline in the smartphone industry.

Samsung revealed its phone profit was marginal, due to low volume shipments and high marketing expenses, reports The Guardian.

The firm’s smartphone business generated 2.8 trillion won, which was a decline from 4.4 trillion won a year earlier.

Park Jin-Young, VP for mobile business at Samsung, has revealed plans to boost smartphone sales with new larger screen devices and more budget models.

In comparison, Samsung’s chip division delivered a profit of 3.40 trillion won, it’s highest since Q3 2010.

This news comes after Samsung unveiled two new adverts featuring the S6 and S6 Edge smartphones, mocking Apple’s new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus smartphones.
