Galaxy Cup registration is open to Samsung’s IM partners until mid-September

Samsung kicks off registration for ‘Galaxy Cup’ football tournament

Samsung has opened registration for its ‘Galaxy Cup’ football tournament, inviting its IM partners to participate in five-a-side matches.

The tournament starts on November 17th, the mixed-gender teams battling to make it to the semi-finals at St George’s Park – where the England national squad train – and hopefully then to make it to the final, which takes place at Chelsea Football Club’s home pitch, Stamford Bridge, at the end of May 2014.

Open to partners nationwide, the eight weeks of league football will take place at 32 Goal Soccer Centres across the UK. Teams will play round-robin matches on the four Sundays leading up to Christmas, with the final four weeks just after New Year, finishing on February 2nd.

Teams that make it in will receive Samsung-branded Adidas kits, emblazoned with their team name on the back. Samsung is also offering prizes for ‘on-pitch team and player performance.’

The teams that make it to the closing rounds will be assisted by a celebrity football manager to coach them through the final matches.

During the tournament, Sky Sports’ Geoff Shreeves will host a weekly round-up broadcast via Samsung’s Backstage portal. The semi-finals and finals will also be shown on Backstage, featuring commentary and celebrity interviews, before one lucky team is presented with the Galaxy Cup trophy by a ‘Chelsea FC legend’.

Interested channel partners can register on Samsung’s Backstage portal until September 16th, which also provides tracking of team progress, fixture information and result announcements.
