Samsung Galaxy S3 bestselling smartphone in Q3

Samsung’s flagship smartphone beat Apple’s iPhone 4S to become the world’s bestselling handset in the last quarter.

18 million Galaxy S3s were shipped in Q3, iPhone 4S managed 16.2 million over the same period. Samsung’s smartphone accounted for 11 per cent of all smartphones shipped worldwide.

Although Apple’s iPhone 4S fell behind the S3, analysts estimate that six million iPhone 5’s where shipped in Q3. It is expected that the iPhone will overtake the Galaxy S3 once again in Q4.

Samsung announced last week that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has moved 30 million units in just five months, making it the company’s most successful phone to date.
