Teaser site up for Android-powered tablet

Samsung confirms Galaxy Tab

Samsung has announced an Android-powered tablet to appear in the Galaxy range and created a teaser web site to promote the device.

The new Samsung Galaxy Tab offers a 7-inch display and will run Google’s latest Android 2.2 "Froyo" operating system. Launching a teaser site, Samsung seemingly declare war on the Apple iPad by asking "need more?"

As something of a standout feature, the tablet will also use the Swype keyboard which the Korean manufacturer employed to good use on the Galaxy range of smartphones. Samsung bill the Galaxy Tab as the ideal device for navigation, HD video, web browsing and e-reading.

Further specifications have also leaked via Chinese language tech enthusiast web site iFanr which pointed to a 1024 x 600 resolution display and a 1GHz CPU. However the Chinese poster with hands on experience also said the build quality did not compare well with the iPad, saying it was similar to the Galaxy S which the poster also thought was too plastic-like.

A video of the Samsung Galaxy Tab being apparently tested in Australia has also surfaced via Electronista.
