With Cyber Monday looming next week, research claims Brits will spend up to £6,435 per second on the day.

According to RetailMeNot, £1.3 billion will be spent between Black Friday (November 28th) and Cyber Monday (December 1st).

Powa Technologies also states that the retail sector is expected to grow by 2.9 per cent during the 2014 holiday season with the help of Black Friday.

Dan Wagner, CEO of Powa Technologies, said: "“Online purchases are expected to reach a phenomenal number this Black Friday and drive the much anticipated retail growth."

Now in its ninth year, this year is expected to be the biggest for Black Friday and Cyber Monday as more Brits look out for the latest deals for the festive season.

However, eBay reveals Sunday November 30th is set to be its busiest shopping day ever.

‘Super Sunday’ is predicted to see site traffic rise as seven million users head to eBay to browse over 104,000 deals.

Yet Tesco believes that Black Friday sales will exceed Boxing Day sales for the first time this year.

Rob Hattrell, general merchandise director for Tesco said: ”Black Friday now marks the real start of Christmas shopping and Tesco is recognising this with its Black Friday sale in-store and online.”

The supermarket chain will be offering discounts of up to 70 per cent, which will include over 200 electrical, entertainment, mobile, DIY products and children's toys.

Patrick Peterson, CEO of Agari, believes that there will be an increase in phishing emails around Black Friday.

He added: “With Black Friday and Cyber Monday just around the corner, we can expect to see a sharp spike in the number of sophisticated phishing emails being sent to compromise unsuspecting holiday shoppers.”
