Visitor targets beaten as Ingram gears up for tomorrow's Wembley event

Retail Expo ready to kick off

With one of the biggest trade events of the year just a day away, Ingram Micro MD Julian Klein shared his thoughts with PC Retail. “We have always intended that the size and scale of Retail Expo should be at a level that hasn’t been seen in recent times and we’re really excited that this will be the case. We’re on track to have over 500 visitors and 45 exhibiting vendors," he said.

Retail Expo will be the first major trade event in recent years to have been organised by a distributor, as opposed to a specialist events company or trade body. With attendances down at many trade events, this could well be a sign of things to come.

The key difference could be a more overtly commercial theme. "Some of the exclusive deals our vendors are bringing to the show are tremendous; there will be a real chance for retailers to find a number of new margin opportunities," said Klein.

In case any PC Retail readers are still undecided about attending, Klein had these words of encouragement. "There will be free POS display equipment available, heavily discounted products deals (exclusive to those attending), information on new products and the chance to hold private meetings with Ingram Micro and 45 of the UK’s leading IT vendors. Most importantly, it is never too late to register and come along, if you retail ANY technology products, and you’re not going, you will miss out."
