Realtime has vowed to step up its invasion of the High Street, claiming that it is uniquely placed as a distributor to help retailers like DSGi and Tesco to break the PC gaming market.

"They [DSGi and Tesco] are looking to expand their reach into the enthusiast market, but it is different from what they are used to selling into," Realtime's recently promoted sales director Richard Marsden told PC Retail.

"Over the next six months, we're looking at further upping our involvement in the area, bringing our expertise in selling to the enthusiast market to them. We're confident that we can bring the experience we have – and that we used to boost etail's presence in the marketplace – to High Street names."

Asked what his promotion meant to him, Marsden said: "I've been with the firm for ten years now, all the way from when it was a family-owned operation so it's great to be recognised in this way."
