Rap artist Eminem sues Apple

A federal lawsuit has been filed by rapper Eminem against Apple following claims that he has not been paid for downloads. According to Associated Press the case revolves around 70 to 80 songs downloadable form the iTunes web store.

Eminem is reported to be demanding more than $75,000 for infringement of his copyright, unfair competition and a violation of the Michigan consumer protection act, in addition to damages of up to $150,000 per unpaid download.

Apple made no comment, but Associated Press said Eight Mile Style, Eminem’s record company, said that record companies need permission from copyright holders before downloads can be authorised.
