Ralph Baer, the creator or the very first games console, has passed away at the age of 92.
He developed a prototype games console originally known as the Brown Box, during the 1960s, which later was renamed and sold as the Magnavox Odyssey in 1972
It was the first home gaming console that helped to transform computer gaming.
Baer also developed the light gun, which was recognised as the very first peripheral for video games consoles, as well as the interactive memory game Simon.
Baer was also recognised for his achievements, after receiving the National Medal of Technology and an induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
He also received a 2008 Game Developers Choice Pioneer Award.
The prototype known as Brown Box is now on display at the Smithsonian Institution in the US.
