The long awaited DirectX 10 family of graphics cards from ATI - codenamed R600 - is expected to be with us within a month and website Daily Tech has revealed the naming structure and some technical details.
It will be called the ATI Radeon HD 2000 series, with the top of the range being the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT, featuring 320 stream processors, over twice as many as NVIDIA’s GeForce 8800 GTX. Crossfire is now natively supported across the whole 2900 series.
The mid level cards will be named 2600, while the value end will be named 2400. The entire family will feature Avivo HD technology - designed to optimise video viewing - and a new Universal Video Decoder. AMD is expected to release more details of the launch next week.
