Now anyone can join the third most visited social network in the US

Pinterest drops invites and opens up site to everyone

Pinterest has finally opened registration to the public after two years of requiring an invite to join the site.

The move comes after the social site’s latest redesign, which saw a selection of new catagories to help increase curation and usage. These include Tattoos, Weddings and Quotes.

“We’re really excited to have the capacity to offer Pinterest to more people and if you’re a Pinner with friends who’ve been waiting on the sidelines, we hope you’ll let them know,” said Pinterest on its official blog.

Pinterest hit 10 million unique monthly US visitors back in February and is the third most visited social network in the US as of March.

With its traffic growing by more than 6,000 per cent over the final six months of 2011, its no surprise that Pinterest is now opening up its services to even more people.

Anyone can now sign up to the site with Twitter, Facebook or email here.
