Peppa Pig Sports Day pips Olympics to top of iPad chart

A week after launch, new mobile title Peppa Pig’s Sports Day has raced to the number one spot in the iPad app chart, pushing the official London 2012 mobile game into second place.

Elsewhere in the UK iTunes charts, the new Peppa app is number one in the Kids and Family games chart.

Pre-school franchise Peppa Pig has long been a success story on Apple devices, with previous titles including Peppa Pig Happy Mrs Chicken and Peppa Pig’s Party Time.

In this new sporting app, there are six interactive single and multi-player games, plus a ‘sticker book’.

Games include Obstacle Race, Long Jump, Ice-Cream Maker, Bicycle Race, Tug of War, Rosette Making.

There are two London 2012 Olympics apps available – a pay-for game and a free app offering news and results. 

The free Olympics app is number one in the Free Apps on iPad chart. On iPhone the Games are coming second to a fitness title in the paid charts, and second to a BBC app in the free charts.
