As we head towards the big VIP dealer event on Wednesday May 2nd, PCR speaks to the sponsors of PCR Retail Boot Camp.

PCR RETAIL BOOT CAMP PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: Wasp Barcode

In the first of the series, Wasp Barcode Technologies’ European sales director Hugh Furness talks about his company’s plans for the conference & expo, and beyond…

How important is it for the UK PC industry to have a dedicated event for retailers?
This is important as it brings all the relevant parties to one location at one time. It gives a great platform to showcase any new developments to the retailer and give them the knowledge to pass on to their customers.

What do you see being the key issues facing PC retailers in 2011?
It will be on good margin products and new technologies to offer their customers.

What products/services will you be promoting at the event this year?
Wasp will present the range of Asset tracking, Inventory Control, time and Attendance products, as well as our new launch products, such as the HC1 mobile computer, DT10 mobile computer and the WWS450 2d bluetooth scanner, plus a new software and hardware bundle.

Why should retailers look out for the Wasp stand at the PCR Retail Boot Camp?
Our focus is on retail and resellers for 2012 and the next three years to establish a top 30 base of partners. We want to meet retailers and resellers at the Boot Camp to gain new members and assist them in the sales of Wasp products. Our membership programme gives them access to our lead programme, products, marketing and support and we see PCR Retail Boot Camp as the event to meet the retailers we want to work with.

What are the key brands you carry?
Wasp Inventory Control, Wasp Asset tracking, Time and Attendance, Quickstore Epos, Labeler, Barcode Maker, Scanners, Mobile Computers, Barcode Printers.

What are your projections for 2012?
Although the market is very reserved for 2012 we see this as a great time as our products do really well in this climate and are not affected by a slow economy as Wasp produce productivity products.

If there was one thing you¹d change in the PC/tech industry, what would it be?
We all need to have closer relationships with manufacturers, distributors and retailers/resellers. At the end of the day we all want to sell the right product for the right price and all make the financial returns needed to develop and grow.

What distinguishes you from your competitors?
We have everything under one roof, from the software to the hardware; all in a box ready to go, plug and play, and in a retail box.
