BRC veteran will help delegates connect with customers

PCR Boot Camp: Retail expert Stephen Robertson to give keynote speech

The former director general of the British Retail Consortium, Stephen Robertson, is the keynote speaker at this year’s PCR Boot Camp.

The British Retail Consortium is the authoritative voice of retail, recognised for its powerful campaigning and influence within Government, as well as a provider of valuable retail information. Robertson was made director general of the BRC in 2008 and stepped down after his four-year tenure at the end of 2012.

His experience at retail is unquestionable. Following his marketing ‘apprenticeship’ at Unilever, Alberto-Culver and Mars, Robertson joined the board of B&Q before leading the acquisition of Screwfix Direct, which he went on to chair. He became director of communications at Kingfisher and this was followed by three years at Woolworths. He serves on the boards of Timpson Group (privately held services retailer) and Hargreaves Lansdown (FTSE 100 financial services company).

Robertson will provide the keynote at the PCR Boot Camp conference, where the theme will be Connecting With Customers.

"We’re delighted that Stephen will be providing the keynote at this year’s PCR Boot Camp," said PCR publisher Lisa Carter. "Thanks to his extensive experience at retail, and his period at the helm of the BRC, there are few people who can provide a greater insight into retail trends. He is a very engaging speaker, so we’re sure that all delegates will find the session incredibly useful."

PCR Boot Camp, in association with Microsoft, takes place on Wednesday May 29th at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London. Over 250 PC and IT dealers will attend the event, which will feature a conference in the morning and an expo in the afternoon. Retailers and resellers are also provided with a free lunch, while an After Show Drinks Reception will take place in the evening.

The day is free for dealers to attend and will include a conference session in the morning, with a number of sessions on improving business. All dealers who attend will get a free portable Jabra Bluetooth speaker worth £150.

After a free lunch, the expo will open, featuring the market’s biggest manufacturers and distributors.

In addition, there will be a series of ‘Break-Out Sessions’ during the afternoon, giving distributors and manufacturers the opportunity to present technical or service sessions with smaller groups of dealers.

An after-show drinks reception will provide networking opportunities to round off the day. And all dealers will go home with a VIP Gift Bag including the Jabra Bluetooth speaker.

The UK’s top 250 retailers are set to attend the event – interested dealers can register at www.pcrbootcamp.com/dealer-registration.

Microsoft is the headline partner for this year’s event and it’s joined by Entatech, Westcoast (Platinum), plus Hama, Wasp, TP-LINK, KMS Components, Hannspree, Philips, AOC, SanDisk and Synaxon (Gold).
