Microsoft needs little introduction – it’s not only one of the biggest firms in the technology industry, but also one of the most successful corporations in the world.
At this year’s Boot Camp, Office 365 will be among the range of Microsoft products on display in the firm’s own room, with training on offer to educate delegates about Office 365 Personal. This is a subscription service built to help users get things done on any device.
Microsoft has also collaborated with distributor Tech Data to offer Office 365 on its Electronic Software Download (ESD) service to resellers and retailers.
Built on the foundation of Tech Data’s StreamOne engine, ESD provides resellers and retailers with the ability to brand and embed products such as Office 365 into their own websites.
Resellers can provide direct software download access to customers, reducing the cost and time needed to order, deliver and store boxed versions of the products. Visit Microsoft’s room at Boot Camp to learn more about ESD.
Microsoft will also be showcasing a range of devices with Office 365.
The latest iteration of Microsoft’s ubiquitous productivity suite, the subscription-based Office 365, has seen huge success since its launch in 2011.
The Home Premium edition of Office 365 has some 3.5 million subscribers, with over a billion people in total now using Office products – or one in seven people globally. Office 365 is now on track to become a $1.5 billion business – one of the fastest growing in Microsoft’s history.
Partly thanks to its ties with Office, Microsoft’s online storage service OneDrive has also seen success, with over 11 billion photos and one billion Office documents now stored on the platform.
Recently, the Office 365 software also expanded onto Apple’s iOS devices, with cloud support meaning users can share their documents across multiple platforms.
Microsoft’s flagship Windows 8 operating system has also experienced continued popularity among users – especially following the release of the Windows 8.1 update in October 2013.
More than 200 million Windows 8 licences have been sold to date, with the software’s multi-platform presence helping to establish a universal ecosystem across multiple form factors.
