Vendor announces safety recall due to internal short circuits

Packard Bell issues battery recall

Packard Bell has initiated a voluntary recall of potentially defective batteries sold in EasyNote MX36, MX37, MX51 and MX52 laptops.

The recall has been issued as a result of internal short circuits that can potentially cause the batteries to overheat or catch fire. Packard Bell has stated that there is no risk of electrocution and that no injuries have been reported.

The affected batteries were mainly sold in Europe, and readers will be pleased to hear that no one in the US was affected.

Users of the above mentioned notebooks can visit the Packard Bell website or call its service hotline on 0871 467 0008 to find out if their machine is affected.
