Latest version of Microsoft?s productivity software for Mac arrives in retail

Office 2008 launched

Office 2008 for Mac has launched into retail today, almost a year after it was originally scheduled to go on sale.

The software, which updates Microsoft’s Office 2004 suite for Macs with the firm’s latest Open XML format, has been designed to work on both Intel and PowerPC-based Macs.

"What we tried to achieve with Office 2008 for the Mac is to help users get their work done more simply, and compatibility was a big driver here. Everyone is looking for the product to deliver great compatibility," explained Amanda Lefebvre, marketing manager for Microsoft’s Macintosh Business Unit.
