The Shield family has expanded with the inclusion of the new Shield Tablet, a high-powered Android device.
The eight-inch tablet, which has been specifically deigned for gamers, can stream games straight from a PC, through its full HD display.
Powered by the Nvidia Tegra K1, with 192 GPU cores, the tablet allows users to run graphics-intensive Android titles.
Other features include front-facing speakers and a protective cover, which can be used as an optional stand to prop up the device.
Nvidia has also launched the Shield wireless controller, which can be attached to the tablet, transforming it into a small gaming machine.
Using a WiFi connection, the controller is said to reduce latency while gaming, and allows gamers to use multiple controllers at one time.
Jen-Hsun Huang, Nvidia’s co-founder and chief executive officer, said: “The Nvidia Shield delivers exceptional tablet performance and unique gaming capabilities to keep even the most avid gamers deeply immersed, anywhere they play.”
Prices start from £229 for 16GB of storage, while 32GB will cost £299. The wireless controller costs £49.99.
