Nokia X2: Microsoft’s first Android smartphone

Another device has been added to the Nokia X range of smartphones, making it the first Android-powered handset from Microsoft.

The X2 is the first smartphone to launch under the Nokia brand since Microsoft acquired its devices and services division.

The Nokia X2 features a larger, 4.3-inch screen than the Nokia X and comes with a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 5MP rear-facing camera, dual-SIM, 1GB of RAM and a 1800mAh battery.

The device will cost €99 (around £80) and is available ‘immediately in select countries globally’.

The Nokia X smartphone was announced back in February at CES, alongside X+ and XL variants.

Microsoft finalised its acquisition of Nokia’s devices and services division on April 25th. Shortly after, Nokia announced that sales of its devices – including those acquired by Microsoft – were down by 30 per cent during Q1 2014.
